St. Charles Fire Chief Scott Swanson released the following statement this aftertoon:
Two units from the St. Charles Fire Department are still on the scene of the large structure fire that broke out yesterday at the former Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St./IL Rt. 64 in St. Charles. The fire has been extinguished, but firefighters are expected to remain on site throughout the night, putting out several hot spots. The fire was contained to the center structures of the complex.
St. Charles Fire Chief Scott Swanson this morning released the following statement on the fire at Pheasant Run in St. Charles:
At 16:41 on Saturday afternoon 05/21/22, the St. Charles Fire Department responded to 4051 E. Main St. for a report of fire at the former Pheasant Run Resort. While enroute, fire units saw heavy smoke visible and the incident was elevated to a 1st level Box Alarm. The first fire engine arrived at 16:45 and found serious fire conditions coming from multiple areas within the structures. Due to the extent of the fires and the size of the complex, the incident increased to a 2nd and then 3rd Box Alarm level.
The firefighters worked to cutoff the spread of the fires in every direction. Large handlines, portable monitors, and elevated master streams were utilized in the extensive firefighting efforts. The fire is contained and substantially extinguished at this time. The damage to the buildings is extensive. Firefighters will remain on the scene throughout Sunday to complete extinguishment of all fires.
There were no civilian or firefighter casualties. The cause of the fire is presently under investigation by the St. Charles Fire and Police departments. The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted by more than 20 area fire departments. Assistance was also received from the St. Charles Police, EMA, Public Works, Electric, and Water Departments, West Chicago Water Department, and the Kane County Office of Emergency Management during the incident.
Buildings at the Pheasant Run property on the east side of St. Charles are on fire.
Videos show a large blaze just adjacent to the main building.
Firefighters as well as St. Charles police are on the scene.
