On November 23 of last year, Adam D. Knisley was killed when his 2007 Infiniti coupe collided head-on with a fully-loaded Batavia school bus just leaving Rotolo Middle School in Batavia.

According to the Batavia Police Department, approximately 39 students were on the bus at the time of the collision. Remarkably, all but one walked away with nothing worse than minor injuries. One child was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the bus was uninjured.

According to a press release from the Batavia Police Department, its investigation into the crash has now been completed. After review of the Kane County Coroner’s Office Report, it was determined that Knisley had intoxicating compounds in his system at the time of the crash. Impairment related to these intoxicating compounds is believed to have been a factor in the cause of the crash.

There have no information to believe that the crash was a targeted attempt to crash into the school bus.

No citations have been issued in relation to the incident.
