4 FOR THE WEEKEND
where the nights are stronger than moonshine. Wait, that’s Ventura highway…
So let’s get to it, starting with…..
Leave My Relatives Out Of This
It’s been a long week, it’s bleak January, you’re tired and finally the weekend is here.
“What do you want to do tonight, dear?”
“I dunno. Hey, let’s go see a play!”
“Cool! I love plays! I mean, ‘Hamilton,’ ‘Wicked,’ those were awesome!”
“Um, honey, it’s not THAT type of play.”
“So what’s it about, then?”
“Um, physics and Cubism.”
“Right, then….”
You may THINK that this is how it will go. But trust us, any historical play written by Steve Martin is going to be hilarious. Find out for yourself at Riverfront this weekend

It Might As Well Be Spring
When we lived in Chicago, one of our favorite weekends was the Chicago Boat Show.
As regular readers know, we love sailing. And wandering around a massive facility (McCormick Place) in the dead of winter just looking at boats infused us with the hope of spring, of the glorious sound of waves against the hull, of the wind in the rigging…it was heaven.
We don’t know if home and garden shows can create the same kind of time-warp, but perhaps it’s worth a try this weekend at the Kane County Fairgrounds.

…On Bread Alone
If you enjoy good food at – at all, mind you – you really have to scamper to Geneva this weekend.
Geneva Restaurant Week ends on Sunday.
Let us say that again: Geneva Restaurant Week ends on Sunday.
Geneva’s embarrassment of riches when it comes to dining is something everyone must experience. When’s a better time to that than when prices are slashed and specials abound. Bon appetit!

And Finally…
Yes, we’re on a theatre kick this week.
And why not? We are blessed to have Broadway-level performances at a venue like the Paramount just minutes away.
This entry into Paramount’s “Broadway Series” reprises the hilarious Hollywood blockbuster with Bill Murray, with a musical twist.
So “rise and shine all you woodchuck-chuckers, it’s Groundhog Day!”
(Former NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio has been permanently banned from attending this presentation.)
(Yes, that’s an obscure joke. Google it.)

After the brutal cold spell this week, this weekend’s weather looks damned reasonable. Temps will warm up to the mid-20s, it’ll be a bit cloudy, and maybe a few snow flurries thrown in for flavor. All things considered, not too bad. As ever, plan accordingly.
If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.
Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.
Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH! One more thing. If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
