The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued and alert about a winter storm hitting the Fox Valley sometime between New Year’s Eve and the evening of New Year’s Day.

Forecasts indicate that the region will likely see 5″-6″ of snowfall during this period, with the heaviest period being Saturday afternoon and into the evening.

There is a possibility, however, of snow arriving in the later hour of New Year’s Eve, creating difficult travel conditions for New Year’s revelers.

Fox Valley residents are urged to take caution and plan ahead.

This article will be updated as additional information becomes available.
