4 FOR THE WEEKEND
where Frosty comes for a little down time.
So let’s get to it, starting with…..
Can’t Beat Hemmens for the Holidays…
…and not just for great alliteration.
At least once during the Christmas season you’ve got to get gussied up and do something elegant. And we can’t think of anything better than going to the symphony.
We’ve said it before, the Hemmens is a Fox Valley treasure. And so is the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.
Outside of the CSO, there’s no better symphony in Illinois.
So put on something suitable and get over there!

Honesty, This One is NOT A Farmer’s Market…
…even though it’s got “Farm” in its name.
Blackberry Farm is a wonderful place to soak up some serious Christmas spirit.
A vintage train ride around Lake Gregory, maybe followed by a hay ride, and back to the pioneer village for some hot cocoa, a wee bit of shopping, story times, the works.
Yes, it’s better in snow, but as usual hereabouts, that’s a hit or miss proposition this time of year.

It Aint’ Called The Season of Lights For Nuthin’
One of the joys of Christmas is the lights.
It’s interesting to ponder just what it is about colorful lights shining in the darkness that so enthralls us humans (and yes, we’re human – this isn’t being written by AI….yet).
But is does. And we can think of no greater place to experience it than Mooseheart. Not only are the light displays charming, but, more importantly, your donation goes to support the good work of the Mooseheart Child City and School. It’s a wonderful place.
(The display runs through New Year’s.)

And Finally…
This isn’t really an event, but rather an advertisement for the glory of the Fox Valley this time of year.
We’re trying to inspire you to get out there and experience the manifold opportunities provided by this lovely place.
If this moves you to share our enthusiasm, check out our collection of Christmas events at Merry Christmas! Archives – Fox Valley Magazine. Even Scrooge would find something to do.
Ho, ho, ho!

Weatherwise, Sunday looks like the best bet. Friday and Saturday look wet and chilly, especially Saturday which will feature rain early, grey, windy and a high of 41 later. As ever, plan accordingly.
If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.
Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.
Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH! One more thing. If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
