4 FOR THE WEEKEND
where every child is above average. Wait, that’s Lake Wobegone…
So let’s get to it, starting with…..
Take A Deep Breath, Everybody
Ok, the holidays have officially begun.
But we’re in the ever-so-brief window before the Thanksgiving/Christmas sprint begins.
So we here at 4FTW suggest making this weekend as “normal” as possible, in anticipation of the craziness about the ensue.
So, in that spirit of normality, let’s participate in the conclusion of the…Day of the Dead celebration?

OK, Maybe This Is A Little More “Normal”
It’s so great having the ESO back.
The absence of this magnificent orchestra was keenly felt last year.
We’ve always thought that Fox Valley music-lovers underappreciate just what they have in this cultural gem, so we encourage everyone to get out and enjoy their artistry whenever possible.
This weekend it’s Mozart, Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky, three of the greats. Go have a listen.

“Jam” At the RocHaus In West Dundee
We haven’t said much about the RocHaus in West Dundee in a while. We’re not sure why, really, but there seems to have been a lull in the activity of the place recently.
But it’s back this weekend, with a Sunday performance that will delight lovers of Pearl Jam everywhere.
The well-regarded tribute band Pearl Jam Tribute Chicago plays at 7.
Check it out. The band and the venue are perfect for each other.

And Finally…Our Return To The Venue
Ok, we promised and we kept our word. No posts about the Venue in Aurora for a while.
Well, we’re back.
Look, it’s hard not to love this place. It’s a not-for-profit started by a few music-lovers with their own money, first of all. But second, we can’t think of another venue around that consistently offers such a diversity of top-flight musicians week in and week out.
This weekend it’s a combination of what is, in effect, a tribute to John Prine (Friday) coupled with the blues of Smiley Tillman and his band (Saturday). It’s just a unique place.

We don’t know if you’ve noticed or not, but the weatherman has been toying with us. Each week we dutifully look at the forecast and report to you. Each weekend, it seems, has just the opposite weather. All we can do is report what we know. Don’t shoot the messenger!
This week, your weekly weekend weather looks great. Friday it might be a bit wet in places, but those showers will lead to sunny, rather cool days Saturday and Sunday. Highs in the mid-50s and lows in the low-40s. As ever, plan accordingly.
If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.
Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.
Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH! One more thing. If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
