A 33 year-old South Elgin man was charged Friday with attempted first-degree murder and other offenses in connection with a knife attack on an unidentified victim last Wednesday.

Kane County prosecutors allege that during the morning of Sept. 29, 2021, the accused cut the victim’s throat with a spring-loaded knife and stabbed the victim on the left side of the neck and near the victim’s ear multiple times, causing great bodily harm.

The accused knows the victim.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser has charged the man with the offenses of:

·   Attempt first-degree murder, Class X felony

·   Armed violence, Class X felony

·   Aggravated domestic battery, Class 2 felony

·   Aggravated battery/great bodily harm, Class 3 felony

The South Elgin Police Department and the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force conducted the investigation.

Kane County Judge Julia Yetter set the accused’s bail at $500,000, with 10 percent ($50,000) to apply for bond. Judge Yetter set his next court appearance for 9 a.m. Oct. 13, 2021, in Courtroom 313 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
