Probably Not Wheaties-Worthy, But Credit Where It’s Due: “Jaws” Chestnut Breaks Hot Dog Eating Record

If you haven’t noticed, we around here at Fox Valley Magazine are pretty crazy about the good old USA. We yield to no one in our admiration of the weird, the kooky, the idiosyncratic ways of Americana. But, we gotta admit, this makes us a bit queasy.

However, in the Spirit of ’76 (wait for it), we hold our stomach and salute Mr. Joey “Jaws” Chestnut and his prodigious gastronomical achievement of consuming 76 hot dogs in a mere 10 minutes at the annual Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest on Sunday.  This is one moment I think we can all safely say that we wish we were an OSCAR MAYER wiener…

Proud to be an American, indeed.
