Welcome to our latest edition of Fox Valley Magazine’s

    4 FOR THE WEEKEND

where Independence Day always makes us want
to go kick some Limey butt! Arghh!!!

So let’s get to it, starting with…..

    Let’s Begin All Civilized Like

Sure, most American music around the time of the Revolution was played with buckets and washboards and pieces of really long hair tied between two ends of a stick. (OK, we made that last bit up.)

But now that we’re all civilized and stuff, let’s kick off Independence weekend with an ESO concert featuring three great American composers.

And let’s hold that concert on a farm, dad gummit!

    Done.

Celebrate July 4th on July 3rd? Hell, yeah!

We can’t really think of anything more ‘Merican than thumbing our collective noses at something so meaningless as the calendar – something that was probably thought up by the dang Redcoats anyway – and celebrating the 4th on both the 3rd AND 4th.

Excess is American as apple pie, root beer and french fries. (Oh, wait….)

Get an early taste of fun, music and fireworks a day early in North Aurora.

    We Love A Parade!

So, we’re finally to the 4th!

Time was, you couldn’t swing a drunk Englishman and not hit a parade somewhere. (English citizens: Please direct complaints to President Joe Biden, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC, 20500. If you require a response, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope. We’re several trillions short on funds just now.)

The City of Aurora is keeping that tradition alive with its Sunday morning Independence Day Parade. A great way to start off the Glorious Fourth.

    It’s The Big Night!

We realize that we’re going to start a war here. (Rather fitting, don’t you think?)

Look, we have to pick one spot to watch the fireworks. Most communities in the Fox Valley are planning fireworks of some sort, and you can go here to check them all out.

But, we have a duty to do. So without further ado, we offer beautiful Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles as our recommended fireworks venue.

    Let the battle commence!

Your weekly weekend weather advisory indicates near perfection. Chance of rain is slight throughout the weekend, with highs in the upper 70s to upper 80s. It doesn’t get much better than that.

If, for whatever reason, none of our fabulous four events doesn’t pop your cork, we’ll be very insulted. However, all hope is not lost. Simply go to www.foxvalleymagazine.com and check out our A+E and Events sections for other ideas.

Finally, please do us a favor. We would be eternally grateful if you could share this with some of your unsuspecting family, friends and neighbors. We’d also appreciate some love on our Facebook page (see below). Ok, technically it’s a “LIKE,” but don’t be pedantic. Also, that’s actually two favors. We’ll owe you.

Thanks for reading. Until next time…OH!  One more thing.  If you’re reading this via the website and would like to have this emailed to you bright and early every Friday morning, please SUBSCRIBE!
