UPDATE: The Elgin Police department announced today that jurisdiction for the investigation falls to the Illinois State Police.
Elgin Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a dead body discovered this afternoon in the Fox River.
According to the Elgin Police Department, at approximately 1:56 p.m. today, officers and fire department personnel responded to a report of a body in the water in the Fox River under the Route 20 overpass.
A subject was located and recovered by the fire department and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing and at this time there is no further information available.
