Three suspects are in custody after being observed by Naperville police officers behaving suspiciously and subsequently stealing clothes from a downtown Naperville clothing stores. Early last week, the attention of officers patrolling the downtown area was drawn to a rental vehicle with multiple occupants not wearing seatbelts. The officers saw two females exit the vehicle, put on an extra layer of clothing, and enter Lululemon on Main Street while the third subject stayed in the vehicle. As the females exited the store a short time later, the officers had reason to suspect a retail theft had just occurred. The officers…

A 17-year-old male was shot and killed Monday evening on Aurora’s east side. At approximately 9:33pmMonday, Aurora Police officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 500 block of Metropolitan Street., where they located a 17-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Patrol officers immediately began life-saving efforts before Aurora Fire Paramedics transported the victim to Rush Copley Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased. Detectives from the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Division responded to the scene, along with Evidence Technicians, to begin a comprehensive investigation. A subject is in custody in connection with a shooting in North Aurora Wednesday that police believe to be a targeted attack against a specific individual. On Wednesday morning at approximately 5am, the North Aurora Police Department was dispatched to a business in the 100 block of Grant Street for reports of a gunshot. The caller indicated that they heard multiple gunshots, but that no one appeared to be injured. A forensic autopsy was performed by the Kendall County Coroner’s Office on Monday morning on the victim of a house fire in unincorporated Oswego Township Sunday morning, who has now been identified as 86-year-old David Farber of Montgomery. His dog was also found deceased inside the residence. The final determination of the cause and manner of death is pending further investigation and toxicological study. The investigation remains active and ongoing and is being conducted in collaboration with the Oswego Fire Protection District, the Kendall County Coroner’s Office, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Last week, the Naperville Police Department got wind of what it called “a large teen gathering” planned for Friday evening in downtown Naperville, and warned against improper behavior by the participants. Over the weekend, the department’s warnings apparently went unheeded. According to a post on its Facebook page, NPD responded to two separate incidents involving large gatherings and unlawful behavior. The first involved a large gathering of up to 200 teens and young adults being disruptive downtown on Friday evening. A house fire in Oswego Township early Sunday morning claimed the life of one inhabitant and a pet, according to the Oswego Fire Protection District. According to a press release, at approximately 6:27am Sunday, firefighters were called to a residence in the 30 block of Fernwood Road in unincorporated Oswego Township to investigate outside smoke. Upon arriving , they discovered a structural fire and immediately ordered a General Alarm. While firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack to bring the fire under control, searches of the residence resulted in the identification of a deceased resident along with a deceased pet. A 38-year-old DeKalb man who, in 2021, shot an innocent man in the face with a shotgun while on his break at a West Chicago business was sentenced to 45 years in prison yesterday. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced that Ahmad Steele of DeKalb has been sentenced to forty-five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections following a three-day trial last month. On March 21, 2025, a jury returned a guilty verdict against Steele after approximately two hours of deliberations.
