A 33-year-old man who entered the US illegally from Mexico only two weeks ago has been charged with the murder of his wife in Carol Stream. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Carol Stream Chief of Police Don Cummings announced Thursday that Judge Joshua Dieden has granted the State’s motion to deny pre-trial release for the man, who was officially charged with five counts of First Degree Murder. Joseph J. Charron, 68, a former monk and teacher at Marmion Academy, has agreed to a sentence of 30 months probation and 180 days of imprisonment in exchange for a guilty plea to the offense of aggravated battery, a Class 3 Felony. Judge Julie Yetter accepted the plea. During the time the victim was in high school at Marmion Academy, and between the ages of 15 and 17, Charron made contacts of an insulting and provoking nature with him. Internationally-acclaimed pianist Orli Shaham will be performing Schumann’s Piano Concerto with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra this Saturday, April 6, at 2:30pm. A 68-year-old woman is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries this afternoon after being struck by a vehicle at the corner of Mill Road and West Washington Street early this morning. According to Oswego police, at approximately 6:47am this morning the victim was crossing Mill Road from Lynx Lane to West Washington Street and was struck by a car turning left onto Mill Road from West Washington Street. The car did not stop and continued westbound on Mill Road. The victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The parking lot at Topgolf in Napeville appears to be a busy place. Last week, two more gun-related arrests were made in the lot on Odyssey Court, the latest in a long line of such incidents since last summer. On Friday at approximately 6:30pm, Naperville police officers on patrol observed an odor of cannabis coming from a vehicle in the parking lot.
