A 43-year-old Indiana man is in custody after a multi-year investigation concluded with his arrest on felony aggravated identity theft and theft charges. The investigation was initiated in October 2021 when a family member of an elderly Naperville resident reported a live-in tenant and aide failed to fulfill his obligations and abused the elderly person’s trust. The accused was engaged by the victim, who is over 60 years old, to assist with house chores and ensuring basic monthly bills were paid on time. Police are providing additional surveillance around Lord’s Elementary School in Elgin after a suspicious vehicle was identified parked near the school Monday afternoon. At approximately 3:17pm Monday, EPD officers responded to Lord’s Park Elementary School at 323 Waverly Drive for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the area of the school while children were present. The vehicle did not make contact with any of the students but left the area when approached by school staff. EPD announced that officers will be providing extra surveillance in the area. A 51-year-old man is dead after his vehicle crashed into a tree on Naper Boulevard Sunday evening. At approximately 7:01pm Sunday, the Naperville Police and Fire departments responded to a single-vehicle crash involving injuries near the intersection of Naper Boulevard and 87th Street. The initial investigation indicates that a blue Toyota Scion driven by a Lisle man was southbound on Naper Boulevard approaching 87th Street when it crossed northbound lanes of traffic, left the roadway, and struck a tree.
