A 24-year-old Aurora man allegedly led Warrenville police on a 100-MPH joy ride down I-88 Monday evening, ending in a crash and foot chase during which he was apprehended. The suspect has been charged with one count of Aggravated Fleeing or Eluding a Police Officer (Class 4 Felony), one count of Misdemeanor DUI and thirteen additional Misdemeanor and petty driving offenses. In response to remarkable proliferation of child pornography and online child exploitation in recent years, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser and Sheriff Ron Hain have announced a joint initiative to combat the rising threat. The new Child Exploitation Unit actually began investigating cases in August 2022 with the addition of its first specialized investigator. It added a second investigator in March 2023, and most recently added a computer forensics expert to more quickly analyze electronic devices for evidence of the crimes being committed. While the frequency of shooting incidents has declined somewhat in Elgin this year so far, they continue to plague the city on a regular, if more sporadic, basis. This weekend, in the space of 12 hours, three separate incidents of gunshots fired were investigated by the Elgin Police Department.
