Naperville Park District invites golfers to help celebrate the reopening of the Glen Ekey Driving Range and the practice facility at Naperbrook Golf Course on Friday, May 27. Renovations to the range and practice green took place in the fall of 2021, allowing the range to operate after construction using all-weather mats. Now that the new turf is established, Naperbrook Golf Course is pleased to celebrate the reopening of the entire facility, including the new turf range tee and practice green. Naperville Park District collaborating with the Downtown Naperville Alliance and the City of Naperville to provide bulbs for free For 2022, Naperville Park District is changing the way it distributes the tulip bulbs that are removed each spring. Instead of selling the bulbs for $3 per dozen, the District will join with the City of Naperville and the Downtown Naperville Alliance to make the leftover bulbs from the Riverwalk and other Park District locations available for free, along with bulbs from the City and other downtown locations. Early voting for the June 28 primary begins today, May 19, at the Kane County Clerk’s Office in Geneva and the Aurora Satellite office​​​​​​, and extends through the end of the day before election day. Geneva police have identified the person struck and killed by a Metra train in Geneva early this morning as a 17-year-old girl. The name of the victim has not been released. According to a press release by the Geneva Police Department, the girl died from injuries sustained when she was struck by an eastbound Metra passenger train on the Union Pacific-West line underneath the Route 25 vehicle overpass. Geneva Police and Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the scene around 6:20 a.m. for a train accident involving a pedestrian. A woman was struck and killed by a Metra train in Geneva early this morning. The name of the victim has not been released. The incident occurred before 6:30 a.m. on the Union Pacific-West Line near Crissey Avenue on the City’s east side. Geneva Police said train traffic in both directions will be stopped for the next several hours as authorities investigate the incident. A 23-year-old Wayne man was hit and killed by a woman driving an SUV late Friday night in Bartlett. At approximately 11:40pm Friday evening, Bartlett police officers responded to the intersection of Rt. 59 and Hudson Court in Bartlett to investigate a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. Police indicate that a 40-year-old woman was driving a 2008 Ford Explorer northbound on Rt. 59 when she hit a pedestrian, 23-year-old Micah Padron.
