In what prosecutors allege to be a racially-motivated crime, a Bartlett man has been indicated for attempted murder and hate crimes arising from a stabbing on January 31 in an Elgin bar. According to prosecutors, the 28 year-old suspect, who is white, was in a bar in the 1000 block of North Liberty Street, Elgin on the night of January 31 when he began to argue with an African American patron, directing epithets and racial slurs at him. In a remarkable turn of events, two members of the Geneva District 304 School Board have resigned, according to a report in the Kane County Chronicle. Board President Taylor Egan has apparently resigned without any public statement. Board Member Alicia Saxton resigned Monday, according to the report, and sent a statement to the Kane County Chronicle on Wednesday.
