Seventy-three-year-old Willie Mosely of Maywood, Illinois, was just trying to help. Mosley and another man were transporting a refrigerator in the back of their pickup truck this past Monday when it accidentally fell out the back on Eola Road in Aurora. Mosley and another man got out to put it back in the truck, along with the assistance of a good Samaritan who had stopped to help, when, it is alleged, a drunk driver crashed into him, pinning him against the truck and injuring the other two men. An alcohol-fueled argument that escalated to an slashing attack with a carving knife has left a 67-year-old St. Charles man behind bars for 10 years. Last June, Randy L. Wilson, of the 1400 block of South 14th Street in St. Charles, was outside of his apartment complex speaking with another man when things got out of control. Wilson and the man began to argue and things got physical. Wilson, who had been drinking, went into his home and returned with a 12-inch carving knife. The Fox Valley Orchestra will present an intriguing production of classical music compositions accompanied by narration this Sunday at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre. Utilizing narration with each piece, the FVO will perform Dukas’ “The Sorceror’s Apprentice” (made famous by Disney in “Fantasia”), Mendelssohn’s Suite from Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, and Deems Taylor’s “Through the Looking Glass”, colorful music inspired by Lewis Carroll’s fantastical Alice in Wonderland. The little parade that could – and did – is back in 2022. After a two-year pandemic hiatus, East Dundee’s Thom McNamee Memorial St. Patrick’s Day Parade is set for Saturday, March 12. “We’ve been waiting for two years to marshal the parade together again,” said Eileen McNamee, chairwoman of the parade committee. “We are going to make it a great one.” McNamee took up the reins of the event after her brother, Thom, passed away in 2009.
