A 24-year-old Aurora man is in custody after allegedly being discovered in possession of 2,000 grams of illegal cannabis and an illegal firearm following an extensive investigation.

The suspect has been charged with Armed Violence (a Class X felony); two counts of Unlawful Possession of Weapon by a Felon (a Class 2 felony); and additional felony weapons and cannabis related offenses

The Illinois State Police Kendall County Police Assistance Tea, in conjunction with the Aurora Police Department, identified the suspect, and on Monday KCPAT Officers executed a search warrant at his residence in the 300 block of Michigan Avenue in Aurora. Officers recovered a firearm, approximately 2,000 grams of illegal cannabis, and other cannabis products.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Kane County Jail.
