A pilot and his passenger were killed Wednesday afternoon when their twin-engine Piper PA 30 crashed just after take-off from DuPage Airport in West Chicago.
According to a statement from DuPage Airport, the accident occurred just before 2:00pm Wednesday.
West Chicago Fire Department and Police Department personnel responded immediately to the incident, and airport was temporarily closed as emergency operations continue.
The exact cause of the accident is under investigation. DuPage Airport officials are coordinating with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board, which will lead the investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.
