A 48-year-old DeKalb man is dead after his motorcycle slammed into the side of a car attempting to make a left turn across Orchard Road in Aurora Friday evening.
According to a preliminary investigation, at around 6:40pm Friday, a 2009 Nissan Vera was traveling northbound on Orchard Road and attempted to make a left turn onto Sullivan Road. A 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on Orchard Road and was unable to stop while the Nissan was completing its turn. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the Nissan.
The motorcyclist, identified as Christopher Joeckel, of the 1000 block of Omega Circle, DeKalb, was found suffering serious injuries, and was pronounced deceased on scene. The Kane County Coroner’s Office took possession of the deceased and will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
