According to a press release form the Chicago Police Department, two women were wounded in a shooting at Guaranteed Rate Field during the Friday night game between the White Sox and the Oakland Athletics.
A 42-year-old woman was shot in the leg and taken to the University of Chicago hospital in fair condition, police said. A 26-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the abdomen, refusing medical treatment.
The shooting apparently happened somewhere in the left field bleachers.
Police indicated that it was unclear whether the gunshots originated from within the stadium or outside. They did state, however, that at no time did they believe that it was an “active threat.” No further explanation was provided.
CPD detective are investigating the incident.
