Steve Hernandez, owner of popular Aurora restaurant La Cabana Mexican Cafe at 835 River Street in Aurora, has passed away suddenly, according to a statement posted on the restaurant’s Facebook Page today.
Hernandez was 72 years old.
Hernandez took over the restaurant from his father in 1992, and all together the establishment has been serving the Aurora area for over 55 years.
In their statement, the Hernandez’ family indicated that, in honor of his life, the restaurant will remain open over the weekend, after which it will close “for sometime until we decide on the future of our family establishment.”
“We ask that you please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as we grieve in this difficult time. We will provide arrangement information in the near future as we know you all are apart of our family.”
