A convicted child sex offender has been arrested and charged after he sexually assaulted a young woman in Aurora just two days after being released from prison.

On August 21st, Aurora Police officers responded to an Aurora hospital for a report of a sexual assault that had already occurred. Detectives immediately began investigating and learned the 18-year-old victim had been sexually assaulted by a family acquaintance while he visited Aurora.

According to the investigation, the suspect came to Aurora from Chicago and sexually assaulted the victim while they were at the offender’s family home and continued to make additional sexual advances throughout the evening.

Detectives presented the facts and evidence of the case to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and the following charges were authorized against the 38-year-old offender:

    • Three Class X Felony counts of Criminal Sexual Assault (Force/Threat of Force/Prior Conviction)
    • Three Class 1 Felony counts of Criminal Sexual Assault (Force/Threat of Force)

Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the offender was a convicted child sex offender and had been released from prison on August 18th, just two days prior to this sexual assault. As a result of prior convictions, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized Class X Felonies for Criminal Sexual Assault.

Last week, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, the man was taken into custody in Chicago, without incident.
