Is it shades of Harry and Meghan? St. Charles royalty Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy appear to be seeking a new realm as multiple media outlets report that their stately St. Charles home is up for sale.
The couple purchased the property, which lists 10,000 square feet of living space and “resort-like” amenities” on its Redfin.com site, back in 2015 for $1.1 million. The home is currently listed for sale at $2.779 million.
Wahlberg, originally from the Boston area, first came to fame as a founding member of boy-band New Kids On The Block (NKOTB), and has in recent years become an A-list TV actor from his successful run on CBS’ “Blue Bloods” and his starring role in the spin-off “Boston Blue.” McCarthy, from suburban Chicago, is most famous for her Playboy modelling and her fervent anti-vaccine advocacy. The couple’s arrival in St. Charles immediately placed them at the top of the social heirarchy in the Fox Valley.
To their credit, Wahlberg and McCarthy embraced the region, involving themselves in various community events and charities.
Interestingly, the Wahlburger’s restaurant that opened to great acclaim in 2020 announced this past June that they would be closing, perhaps a foreshadowing of a retreat. (Donnie is a part-owner of the restaurant.) At the time, it was hinted that the owners were simply seeking a new venue in the area, but no announcements have been forthcoming.
No public announcement from the couple has been issued at the time of this posting.
