A 29-year-old man was killed Friday morning when the vehicle he was a passenger in was involved in a rollover collision at the intersection of North Eola Road and McCoy Drive in Aurora.
According to Aurora police, around 5:00am, police officers and firefighters responded to the intersection for a report of a rollover crash involving a blue Jeep utility and a blue Honda coupe. Arriving at the scene, they located the drivers and passengers of both vehicles with serious injuries.
Paramedics transported a 29-year-old male passenger of the Honda to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Both drivers were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries, where they both were listed in stable condition.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the Honda was traveling eastbound on McCoy Drive entering the intersection of North Eola Road when it was struck by the Jeep.
The Kane County Coroner’s Office took custody of the victim at the hospital and an autopsy will be scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. The Coroner will also confirm the identify of the victim which will be released at a later time.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Preliminary investigation indicates that neither driver showed signs of impairment. Aurora Police traffic investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the actions of those involved. Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be reviewed with the DuPage County States Attorney’s Office to determine whether criminal charges are warranted.
