In what is becoming an all-too-common occurrence, another body has been found in the Fox River, this time in Elgin.
According to police, this morning at approximately 2:47am, the Elgin Police Department was notified and responded to the area of the 200 block of South Grove Avenue for a report of a deceased subject in the Fox River.
The Elgin Fire Department along with the Kane County Coroner’s Office responded to the area, at which time they recovered a male victim from the Fox River.
Authorities are withholding information regarding the identity of the male pending a determination by the Kane County Coroner’s Office.
The discovery is at least the 5th body recovered from the Fox River in Kane County this year.
- February 17/18, 2026: Body of 53-year-old Ulises “Miguel” Segura Dorantes (missing since November 2025) recovered near a dam in South Elgin. Cause: drowning.
- April 29, 2026: Elderly adult male recovered in St. Charles. Preliminary cause: drowning.
- June 21, 2026: Body of 16-year-old Destiny Neal (missing since June 19) recovered in Elgin near the Kimball Street Bridge.
- July 1, 2026: Body of 41-year-old Amanda Flick (St. Charles woman) recovered near St. Charles Township/Illinois Route 31. Cause: drowning.
