Carpentersville police officers shot and killed a man while responding to a shooting at a restaurant early Saturday morning that sent two men to the hospital.
According to police, at approximately 12:03am officers responded to a call of shots fired at a restaurant in the 1300 block of Kings Road in Carpentersville. Upon arrival, officers observed a suspect actively shooting at a person and fired their service weapons, striking the suspect. The suspect was later pronounced deceased.
During the course of the incident, the suspect shot two individuals, both of whom were transported to a local hospital for treatment. One victim remains in critical condition and the other is in stable condition.
Preliminary information indicates this was an isolated incident involving individuals known to one another, and there is no threat to the public.
Pursuant to department policy, the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation, Zone 1, is conducting an independent investigation into the officer involved shooting.
This remains an active investigation.
