The accident occurred in the 1300 block of Crissey Avenue in Geneva on Thursday evening around 10pm, at which time Geneva Police, Batavia Police and Geneva Fire Department personnel responded.
A preliminary investigation indicated a 2017 Jeep Renegade traveling north on Crissey Avenue veered off the roadway and struck a tree on the east side of the road.
The driver was identified as Joseph C. Fisher III of Geneva. Mr. Fisher was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital by Geneva Fire Department personnel and was pronounced deceased at 10:43pm by Delnor Hospital staff. There were no passengers.
Details of the crash remain under investigation; however, there was no indication of impairment at the scene.
