A 20-year-old South Elgin man has been charged with possessing and disseminating sexually-explicit videos involving children under the age of 13.
On Tuesday, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser and Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain announced that the defendant has been charged with the offenses of Disseminating Child Sexual Abuse Material, a Class X felony (7 counts), and Possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material, a Class 2 felony (7 counts).
Prosecutors allege that between October 21, 2024, and November 18, 2025, the defendant possessed and disseminated multiple videos containing child sexual abuse material (“CSAM”). The videos depicted children under the age of 13 engaged in lewd and sexual conduct. The defendant disseminated the videos using a popular social media and instant messaging app.
On April 30, the defendant was arrested was brought to court for a pretrial detention hearing, during which the State argued for his detention. Granting the State’s petition, the court ordered the defendant detained in the Kane County jail while his case is pending.
The defendant’s next court date is set for May 20, 2026 at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 319 of the Kane County Judicial Center.
