Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser announced today that the excavation of a residence in South Elgin undertaken yesterday as part of the investigation of Kianna Galvin’s disappearance in 2016 did not discover any human remains.
“While today’s search did not uncover the answers we had hoped for, our commitment to finding the truth about Kianna’s disappearance remains unwavering,” Mosser said. “We will continue to pursue every credible lead and stand with Kianna’s family as this investigation moves forward.”
The investigation is ongoing.
Almost exactly 10 years from the date of her disappearance, the search for Kianna Galvin of South Elgin has been given new life by the application of new technology and a determination to finally discover what became of her.
On the afternoon of May 6, 2016, after telling her sister she was going to nearby Jim Hansen Park, 17-year-old Kianna Galvin simply disappeared. Her whereabouts have remained unknown ever since. But recent surveys of the ground under a residence in South Elgin using penetrative radar have discovered possible “anomalies” that investigators believe warrant further investigation.

Today, the South Elgin Police Department and Fox Valley Major Crimes Task Force will be conducting a forensic excavation at a residence on the 800 block of Revere Road, a couple of block north of Jim Hansen Park, as part of the investigation into the disappearance.
“Ten years have passed since Kianna disappeared, and the weight of that loss is still deeply felt by her family, her friends, and this entire community,” said Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser. “My heart remains with all who continue to carry that pain. We have not forgotten Kianna, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to seek the truth. It is my hope that renewed efforts will finally bring the answers her family deserves. I urge anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward and contact the police.”
