A 27-year-old Oswego man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison in the fatal shooting of an Aurora man in 2021.
On March 3, 2026, a jury convicted Ladarius A. Parker of the offense of First-Degree Murder (Class M felony) and found that Parker personally discharged the firearm used in the murder.
According to prosecutors, in the early morning of May 2, 2021, Parker was attending a party at a residence in the 1700 block of Stonegate Drive in Montgomery when he shot and killed 30-year-old Christopher B. McMorris of Aurora as McMorris sat in a parked vehicle nearby. Parker was subsequently arrested on January 7, 2022, by the U.S. Marshal Service in Freeport, Illinois.
In accordance with Illinois law, Parker must serve the full sentence. Parker receives credit for 1,576 days served in the Kane County jail.
“My thoughts remain with the family of Christopher McMorris as they continue to endure the profound impact of this loss,” Assistant State’s Attorneys Kelly Orland said. “Today’s sentence reflects the seriousness of the defendant’s actions and holds him accountable for taking a life. While no sentence can restore what has been taken, it is my hope that this outcome provides a measure of justice and continued support for the victim’s loved ones.”
