A 26-year-old St. Charles man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for selling fentanyl-laced tablets to a victim who subsequently died from drug toxicity.
On March 24, 2026, Eric R. Fabisiak pled guilty to Drug-Induced Homicide, a Class X felony; and Armed Violence, a Class X felony.
According to prosecutors, on June 17, 2023, St. Charles Police were dispatched to a death investigation at the 1100 block of S. 3rd Street, where 24-year-old Amun Ahmed, of Bolingbrook, had been found by a romantic partner unconscious and not breathing.
An autopsy conducted by the Kane County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Ahmed died from combined drug toxicity.
Police were advised that the previous evening Ahmed had ingested one of 15 pills purchased from Eric Fabisiak. The pills were small, round, blue, pressed with “M” and “30,” and looked like prescription oxycodone. Lab testing revealed that the pills were counterfeit and contained fentanyl. These pills are sometimes called “blues.”*
A few days later, investigators conducted a traffic stop on Fabisiak and took him into custody.
A search of Fabisiak and his vehicle turned up 72 small, blue pills stamped with “M” and “30,” which lab tested positive for fentanyl. In the vehicle investigators also found a loaded Smith & Wesson .380 revolver, 6.2 grams of cocaine, a scale, several unused small plastic bags, and additional .380 ammunition.
Fabisiak admitted to investigators that he sold the small, blue pills and knew they contained fentanyl. As a convicted felon, he was not permitted to possess a firearm.
Fabisiak was sentenced to 12 years in prison on the Drug-Induced Homicide charge, of which he must serve 75%. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison on the Armed Violence charge, of which he must serve 50%. Fabisiak received credit for 1,753 days. The sentences must be served consecutively.
“Eric Fabisiak knowingly sold counterfeit pills that were disguised to look like legitimate prescription medication but in reality carried deadly consequences” Assistant State’s Attorney Kelly Orland said. “His actions directly resulted in the tragic death of 24-year-old Amun Ahmed and put countless others in danger. The defendant’s actions showed a reckless disregard for human life. His possession of an illegal firearm adds to the danger he posed to the community.”
