A man is in critical condition after being shot early this morning on Aurora’s west side.
At approximately 3:24am, Aurora police officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of River Street and Sard Avenue. In addition to multiple 911 calls, a ShotSpotter alert indicated gunfire in the area.
Responding officers located an adult male on the Gilman Trail with a lower body gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid until Aurora Fire Department paramedics arrived and assumed care. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later transferred to another facility, where he remains in critical but stable condition. No additional injuries were reported.
Officers secured the scene in multiple areas and located evidence consistent with gunfire nearby. Detectives from the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Bureau responded and are actively working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
