Two Aurora men are in customer and facing felony charges after Aurora Police officers responded to an alarm activation early Friday morning and discovered damage to two businesses along South Eola Road.

At approximately 2:13am Friday, Aurora Police were dispatched to a business alarm in the 2300 block of South Eola Road. Although the alarm company later attempted to cancel the response, units continued to the location to confirm the property’s security. Upon arriving, officers observed damage indicating forced entry and saw a vehicle leaving the area.

A traffic stop was conducted moments later, leading to the recovery of items connecting the occupants to the scene.

The initial investigation has determined that two businesses had been targeted and sustained damage consistent with burglary. Evidence collected at the scene supported the arrests and subsequent felony charges against both suspects, one of which is 19 years of age and the other 18.

Both suspects have been charged by the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office with Burglary and Possession of Burglary Tools, both felonies. The 18-year-old suspect was also charged with Criminal Damage To Property, also a felony. Both have been transported to the Aurora Police Department for processing and were issued a future court date.

“This case reflects the kind of attentiveness and sound judgment that defines our department,” said Aurora Police Chief Matt Thomas. “Our officers trusted their instincts, followed up, and ultimately stopped those responsible. Property crimes may not always make headlines, but they directly impact our residents and business owners — which is why they remain a continued focus for us across the community.”

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Division at (630) 256-5500.
