An Oswego man convicted of sexual assault of minors has been sentenced to life in prison.
Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis announced yesterday that Brian Hulsey was sentenced to Natural Life in Prison last week for sexually assaulting several minor children. Hulsey was previously found guilty of six (6) counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and one (1) count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse after a three-day trial back in February of this year.
Hulsey showed no emotion after being sentenced and made no statement to the Court. Per Illinois law, Hulsey will remain in custody without the possibility of early release.
Charges against Hulsey were filed after an investigation began in August of 2021, when three separate victims, all being family members of Hulsey, disclosed to law enforcement investigators that Hulsey had committed multiple horrific sexual acts upon each of them starting as early as 2018 when one victim was just 7 years old. Each victim was under the age of 13 when sexual assaults occurred. Each victim also completed a victim sensitive interview at the Kendall County Child Advocacy Center. Under Illinois law, two of the three interviews were played during the trial as evidence against Hulsey. Additionally, each of the three victims took the stand and described the sexual assault that Hulsey committed on each of them while in the home in Oswego.
Weis commented on the continued courage and strength shown by the victims of these horrific acts perpetrated by Hulsey. “These victims came forward and had to face the man that was supposed to protect them. Instead, Hulsey committed unthinkable acts upon each of them. They will have to live with that trauma. The good news is that Hulsey will spend the rest of his life paying for the trauma that he caused each of them. Life in prison is exactly the sentence for this predator.”
