A 47-year-old Texas woman is in custody after being apprehended at Midway Airport with two children whom she allegedly kidnapped from their Aurora home.
At 3:30pm Thursday, Aurora Police were notified of a possible kidnapping involving two children, ages 11 and 13, in the 500 block of Rosewood Avenue. Responding officers discovered that an unknown female had arrived at the residence, where the children were staying with family, and stated that she needed to take the juveniles, on their mother’s behalf, to her location out of state. The female suspect left with the children, and it was later learned that the mother never permitted anyone to take her children.
The Chicago Police Department was called to assist, and later located the female suspect and the children at Midway Airport in Chicago. Aurora Police officers responded to Midway Airport and assisted in returning the juveniles to their family.
The suspect, a resident of Fort Worth, Texas and a relative of the children’s father, was positively identified and taken into custody. It was learned the children’s father, who does not have legal custody of the children, paid the suspect to bring the children to him in Mexico via the Texas border.
The children were not harmed during this incident and remain with their family.
The suspect was charged with 2 Counts of Kidnapping (a class 2 felony); 2 Counts of Child Abduction (a class 4 felony); and 2 Counts of Unlawful Restraint (a class 4 felony). She was transported to the Kane County Jail and held for a pre-trial hearing.
