A private aircraft experiencing mechanical difficulties was forced to land at The Highlands of Elgin golf course Wednesday evening.
According to the Elgin Police Department, at approximately 8:20pm Wednesday evening, the Federal Aviation Administration notified the department that a small private plane was preparing to make an emergency landing at the Highlands of Elgin golf course in Elgin due to mechanical issues.
Elgin Police and Fire Department personnel responded and located the aircraft, which appeared to have successfully landed. Upon contact with the occupants no injuries were reported. All passengers were evaluated by the Fire Department and released on scene.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been contacted and will be handling the investigation into the cause of the incident.
There is no indication as to which hole the plane landed on.
