A Yorkville man was seriously injured Thursday after his motorcycle crashed into a Honda CRV at the intersection of Route 34 and Orchard Road in Oswego.
At approximately 12:42pm Thursday, Oswego Police responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 34 and Orchard Road involving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a Honda CRV.
The 19-year-old motorcyclist sustained a major head injury and other unknown injuries. He was initially transported to Rush Copley and later airlifted to Loyola Hospital due to the severity of his injuries. His current condition is unknown.
A preliminary investigation determined that the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Route 34 when an eastbound Honda CRV attempted to turn left onto Orchard Road to travel northbound. The motorcycle struck the front right passenger side of the CRV. The driver of the CRV, Kurob Mikkelson, 73, of Plano, was issued a citation for Failure to Yield Turning Left. Mikkelson was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. No other individuals were involved in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
