How am I doing in foster?
“I have been fostering Marvin for a long time, and he is a great companion and relatively easy to have around the house. Ever since we’ve found this one type of ball that he loves, his favorite thing to do is be outside with it in the yard, playing fetch or just hanging out. Somehow, everything is better for him when he has his ball. He’s not super energetic, and when he’s ready for some activity, there’s no question what will make him happy – going outside with you and his ball! Marv likes a good snuggle when he’s tired, and it’s very comforting having him curled up next to me while I watch TV and sleep. Marv also enjoys sniffy walks in the neighborhood, we just have to be careful about when and where we walk to ensure we can maintain distance from other dogs. Some days we don’t go for a walk, and he is perfectly happy to instead play fetch and hang out with me and his ball in the fenced yard.
“Marvin has made a couple of dog friends with slow introductions, but he doesn’t need to play with other dogs; he is happy being with just humans. And he loves all people!
“I’m not sure why it’s taking so long to find his forever home. Sure, he can get a little jumpy at times, and he needs some special considerations when it comes to other dogs, but besides that, he is really wonderful!” – Marvin’s foster mom
Marvin tends to jump when he’s very excited or anxious, so he would do best in a home without small children. He has big feelings about being close to dogs he doesn’t know, so he’s looking for an adopter who can manage his environment and help him in stressful situations. He has made multiple dog friends with slow introductions, and we think he can successfully live with another dog. He just needs to stick to a slow-intro process for any future dog friends or siblings. Marv has been making great progress in his foster home, and his adopters will continue to have support from the shelter’s Training Team!
My adoption comes with some extra benefits at the time of adoption!
Marvin is an All-Star dog, and his adoption appointment includes a discussion with the training team, as well as a few enrichment goodies to help get you both off to a good start. To learn more about Marvin or to schedule an appointment to meet him, please email info@ahconnects.org (including your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to assist you.
Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
DOE
Doe is a quiet, tender-hearted, one-year-old cat who has already overcome so much in her young life. Rescued from a hoarding situation, she arrived in our care undersocialized and unsure of the world. Despite her rough start, Doe showed incredible strength and devotion as a mom to four beautiful kittens—all of whom have now found loving homes.

Now it’s Doe’s turn.
While she’s still learning to trust humans, Doe is making quiet, brave progress every day. She finds comfort in her cozy cubby, loves the indulgence of Churu and Temptations treats, and is beginning to explore more when people are around. Her foster has even earned the honor of gentle chin scratches—a huge milestone for this special girl.
At night, when the house is still and safe, Doe’s playful spirit emerges. She’ll bat around a ball or dance with her favorite feather toy, showing glimpses of the joyful cat she’s becoming.
Doe is looking for a calm, patient home where she can continue to grow at her own pace. With time, compassion, and understanding, she will blossom into a loyal companion. If you have a quiet space in your home and heart for a cat who’s learning what love feels like, Doe may be the perfect match.
