Treatments and Services
Geneva Eye Clinic provides treatments and services related to the following:
Cataracts
A cataract is a loss of transparency, or clouding, of the eye lens. The eye lens plays a vital role in focusing images on the retina. A cloudy lens interferes with light passing through to the retina, the light-sensing layer of cells at the back of the eye. Compare a cataract to looking at the world through a foggy or blurry window. Light rays do not focus clearly if the lens loses its clarity, as it does when a cataract develops. Glasses or contact lenses cannot sharpen vision if a cataract is present.
***Our latest cataract technology includes the Light Adjustable Lens.
Comprehensive Eye Care
To obtain your best-corrected vision, no matter your needs, the medical team at Geneva Eye Clinic performs many different tests. A technician will complete the first part of your comprehensive exam, including tests for visual acuity, eye pressure, and refraction. Next, the Ophthalmologist will test for common eye diseases and assess how your eyes work together. Follow-up appointments for recommended treatment may be necessary.
Dry Eye
Dry eye is a chronic condition that affects millions of people worldwide. Usually, your eyes make a steady stream of moist tears that coat your eyes as you blink. Tears consist of the lipid (oil) layer, the aqueous (water) layer, and the mucin layer. The lipid layer prevents tear evaporation, while the aqueous layer provides moisture and nourishment to the eye. If a person can’t produce enough tears to maintain healthy, comfortable eyes, they have dry eyes.
***We now offer NuLids as treatment for dry eyes.
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is an eye condition with increased pressure in the inner eye (intraocular pressure, IOP) due to excess fluid buildup that ultimately causes damage to the optic nerve. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness. It is considered the “silent thief of vision” as it slowly and progressively damages your sight.
Oculoplastic Surgery
Oculofacial plastic surgery is specialized plastic surgery that treats the eyelids and the area around them. Reconstructive oculofacial plastic surgery, considered medically necessary, restores obstructed vision. It is usually covered by insurance. In contrast, cosmetic variations are performed for appearances only and are generally not covered by insurance. Most surgeries are performed as outpatient procedures.
Pediatric Eye Care
Vision problems in children affect their ability to learn, read and play, making it essential to address them as soon as possible. Catching sight issues early can be complicated by children being unable to communicate effectively and any fears they may have around going to the doctor. Geneva Eye Clinic’s pediatric ophthalmologist and techs specialize in all aspects of pediatric eye care. Our medical team is committed to treating your child with extra attention and compassion, from managing complex medical and surgical problems to routine vision care.
Retina
The retina is the layer of cells that line the back of the inner wall of your eye. Our retinas sense light and send signals to our brain to see. Many different eye disorders affect the retina. Retinal diseases are detected during your annual comprehensive eye exam.
