A 69-year-old resident of East Dundee was killed early this morning after being struck by three vehicles on Illinois Route 31 near Miller Road in Dundee Township.

A preliminary investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office indicates that at approximately 05:58am this morning, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Illinois Route 31 and Miller Road for multiple vehicles that had struck a pedestrian in the roadway.

Detectives on the scene were provided witness statements which indicated that the pedestrian, whose identity authorities have requested remain withheld, was seen walking in the southbound lanes—in all dark clothing—on Illinois Route 31 near Miller Road when he was struck by three vehicles: a Chevrolet Cruze, a black Acura sedan, and a grey Cadillac sedan. All vehicles were traveling southbound on Illinois Route 31 and all stopped to render aid and called 911 until responding deputies and medics arrived.

Witnesses and the three drivers of the vehicles are still being interviewed, and the names of the drivers are, accordingly, being withheld. Information currently availabe indicates that the driver of the Chevrolet Cruze was a 49-year-old male residing in Lake Villa; the driver of the Acura sedan was a 59-year-old male residing in Crystal Lake; and the driver of the Cadillac sedan was a 36-year-old male residing in Algonquin.

No citations have been issued at this time as the incident is still under investigation.
