DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Oak Brook Chief of Police Brian Strockis have announced that three women, including a 22-year-old woman from Naperville, and a juvenile have been charged with stealing merchandise from the Oak Brook Nordstrom Rack last Friday evening.

Two 18-year-old female suspects from Chicago and the Naperville suspect appeared at First Appearance Court yesterday charged with one count of Burglary (a Class 2 Felony) and one count of Retail Theft (a Class 3 Felony). In addition, one of the 18-year-olds is also facing one count of Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, a Class 2 Felony. A sixteen-year-old female juvenile was charged with one count of Retail Theft and one count of Burglary at the police station and released to the custody of her mother.

Prosecutors allege that on Friday at approximately 8:35pm, four individuals entered the Oak Brook Nordstrom Rack store located at 2155 West 22nd Street in Oak Brook. It is alleged that once inside the store, the defendants took possession of numerous items of clothing, fragrances and Mark Jacobs gift boxes totaling more than three hundred dollars and exited the store. Oak Brook police officers took all four defendants into custody outside the store. Police allege that as an officer took one of the Chicago-based subjects into custody, she fought with the officer, punching him in the chest and biting him on his right bicep.

“It is alleged that these defendants helped themselves to more than three hundred dollars’ worth of merchandise from the Nordstrom Rack store and simply walked out the door without paying,” Berlin said. “To make matters worse, it is further alleged that one of the defendants fought with and bit an officer as he placed her under arrest. I want to make it perfectly clear, as we are now in the heart of the holiday season, in DuPage County we will not tolerate any type of behavior that disrupts our businesses or threatens public safety.

The next court appearance for the three adult defendants is scheduled for January 6, 2025. As a condition of their release, the defendants are prohibited from entering the Oak Brook Nordstrom Rack store.
