DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin announced Tuesday that Judge Joshua Dieden has granted the state’s motion to deny pre-trial release for a second West Chicago teen accused of shooting to death two individuals last Saturday night. The 18-year-old suspect from West Chicago has been charged, as an adult, with two counts of First Degree Murder and one count of Attempt Armed Robbery with a Firearm (a Class 1 Felony).
According to prosecutors, on November 9, 2024, at approximately 6:14pm, West Chicago police officers responded to a call of a disturbance in the 700 block of West Forest Avenue. Upon their arrival officers observed a green Honda Civic with the driver’s side door ajar. Upon inspection of the Honda, officers found two deceased individuals, later identified as Alejandro Rios and Antonio Delgado in the car. Both men suffered apparent gunshots to their faces and chests. Officers also found two loaded firearms and several boxes of THC cartridges within the vehicle.
Prosecutors allege that the suspect and a 17-year-old West Chicago man who has also been charged with two counts of First Degree Murder and one count of Attempt Armed Robbery with a Firearm, arranged to meet Rios and Delgado to purchase more than one thousand dollars’ worth of THC cartridges. The victims arrived at the West Forest Avenue location in the Honda and the two suspects entered the car through the front and rear drivers side, announcing their intent to rob the victims, who were both armed. Prosecutors allege that the 17-year-old suspect then shot Rios in the head and chest and shot Delgado in the chest multiple times.
“Thanks to the outstanding work of the West Chicago Police Department, both defendants allegedly responsible for the murder of Alejandro Rios and Antonio Delgado are now in custody where they will remain until trial,” Berlin said.
The suspect’s next court date is scheduled for December 16, 2024, for arraignment.
