Batavia police are investigating a report of a gun being fired near Randall Road Sunday evening.
At approximately 8:06pm Sunday, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of North Randall Road for a report of shots fired. A 9-1-1 caller indicated that they heard a male and female arguing, then a possible gunshot, after which the subjects who had been arguing had fled from the scene in a vehicle.
A vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses was located in the area where the incident occurred and the initial investigation found evidence indicating a firearm was discharged in the area of the reported argument.
A woman described by witnesses as being involved in the incident was located in the area and was detained for questioning. A firearm was subsequently recovered from the scene.
No injuries from the incident have been reported.
Police consider this to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the general safety of the public.
The case and remains under investigation.
