Magic, monsters, and mythical entertainment will be summoned on the grounds of Naper Settlement during All Hallows Eve for families with children 16 and under on Oct. 18-19 from 6:30-10pm. New this year, visitors are welcome to wear a costume (no masks or costume weapons) and enter the Dress for the Dead Costume Contest for the chance to win up to $500. This year’s All Hallows Eve promises to be the most spine-chilling yet with a lineup of all new experiences, including:
- Screams From the Unknown Outdoor Haunt: Walk through dark corridors of the unknown at this 800-square-foot outdoor haunted experience. This gruesome haunt isn’t for the faint of heart and is filled with surprises around every corner. This experience is not recommended for young children and/or those who are easily scared. This is an add-on, timed ticketed experience for $5 per person.
- Día De Muertos Experience: Artists and performers will bring Día De Muertos to Naper Settlement with a new immersive, artistic collaboration that pays tribute to the holiday. Visitors will behold a breathtaking altar and life-size alebrijes, watch folkloric dance by Ballet Folklorico and performances by Mariachi Aurora, make a Día De Muertos art-print using a tortilla press created by local artist Salvador Jimenez Flores, and more. ALMAS (Alliance of Latinos Motivating Action in the Suburbs) will be on site as a community partner for those looking to learn more about Día De Muertos. ALMAS will also offer a sugar skull decorating activity.
- Dress for the Dead Costume Contest: Wear your best costume and enter the Dress for the Dead costume contest for the chance to win up to $500.
- Alice’s Un-Birthday Party: Enter a geodesic dome and fall down the rabbit hole to a wonderland unlike any other.
- Gargoyle Graveyard: Wander the graveyard and take a picture with a gargoyle sculpture created by nationally recognized Naperville artist Paul Kuhn.
Returning attractions will include a zombie maze, axe throwing, an alien autopsy, a magic show, a dark art gallery, and more out-of-this-world activities and performances. Naper Settlement will celebrate the community by offering cuisine from local vendors, including Calogero’s Old World Italian Pizza, John’s Rib House, Grumpy Gaucho, Guzman y Gomez, Decadent Flavor, Molly’s Cupcakes, Ben & Jerry’s, and Hello Boba.
All Hallows Eve is recommended for families with children 16 and under. All Hallows Eve tickets support the Naperville Heritage Society’s mission to collect, document, preserve, and support the history of Naperville, Illinois past and present.
