Elgin police are investigating three unrelated shootings the took place between Friday and Saturday evening. Two of the incidents resulted in the victim’s hospitalization.

Elgin has now experienced 55 gunfire incidents during 2024, only 11 short of the record of 66 set in 2016.

On Friday, a little after 10:00pm, officers responded to the 400 block of Ann Street for a report of shots fired, which was later confirmed. Later, at approximately 11:23pm, officers responded to the 600 block of St. Charles Street for a reported shooting. While officers were investigating, an adult male arrived at a local hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound and officers confirmed that subject was related to the incident on St. Charles Street. The investigation of this incident is on-going and no other details have been made public.

On Saturday evening at 11:47pm, officers responded to the 1200 block of Fleetwood Drive where they found an adult male with a gunshot wound who was subsequently transported to a local hospital. Police believe all parties involved in the incident are known to each other and have been accounted for, and that there is no threat to the public.

Detectives from the Major Investigations Division are actively investigating these cases.

Anyone with information that may assist in these investigations is asked to call 847-289-2600 or, to text a tip, send a message to 847411 and include “ELGINPD” in the beginning of the text, along with the message and/or tip information.
