An Elgin man is in custody after a domestic incident apparently resulted in violence and a gunshot.
On Sunday morning at 1:21am, Elgin police were notified by the Streamwood Police Department that an adult female reported to them that she was involved in a domestic-related incident in Elgin, where a firearm was possibly discharged. Elgin officers responded to the residence of the suspect in the 600 block of South Street where the alleged incident occurred, and upon arrival located evidence that confirmed that a firearm had been discharged.
The 36-year-old male subject was arrested without incident on scene. He has been charged by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office with One count of Aggravated Domestic Battery (Class 2 Felony); One count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony); One count of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm (Class 4 Felony); and Two counts of Domestic Battery (Class A Misdemeanor).
On Monday, the suspect was transported to the Kane County Jail. He appeared at his pre-trial detention hearing on Wednesday where the judge ordered him to be detained pending a future court date.
