Bartlett firefighters are back at it with their annual Smoke & Irons Music Fest on Friday and Saturday, August 9 and 10.
The Smoke & Irons Music Fest boasts one of the best collections of original live music in the Chicago suburbs, while featuring some of the top up and coming artists from all over the country. The fest takes place at Apple Orchard Park in Bartlett.
SoCal southern rockers Robert Jon & the Wreck, fresh off the release of their highly acclaimed album Red Moon Rising, will be headlining Friday night. The band has toured extensively over the past year, selling out shows worldwide, and opening for bands such as Blackberry Smoke and The Mavericks. Support will be provided by Michigan native and rising star, Myron Elkins. Myron blends a sound of classic rock, country and blues with a voice that is well beyond his years. Kicking off the fest will be Chicago blues legend Al Spears and the Hurricane Project.
The Joe Stamm Band will close out the fest Saturday night for the second year in row. The band has had a busy year, playing several large festivals from Idaho to Texas, while also providing support for Charles Wesley Godwin. Rob Leines, making his way from Texas, will complete the one-two punch of country rock on Saturday night, playing his brand of high energy southern rock with an outlaw country attitude. In all, the Smoke & Irons Music Fest will feature ten bands over a day and a half, with all of them playing original music.
The festival promises a relaxed, laid back atmosphere with many attractions to keep you entertained throughout the day. There will be an extensive beer tasting featuring ten local breweries, craft show, bags tournament, cigar lounge and even fire pits. The festival will have several food trucks providing plenty of food options such as lobster rolls, barbeque, empanadas, pierogis, tacos and much more.
The Smoke & Irons Music Fest is organized by Ignite the Courage, a 501(c)3 charity created and run by Bartlett firefighters to provide assistance to the communities they serve and fellow first responders in need. All net proceeds from the fest go directly back to individuals and families who have suffered financial hardship due to a recent medical condition or significant tragedy.
Admission is $10 at the gate for 21 and over. Under 21 is free. For more information, visit their website at ignitethecourage.org and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
Ignite the Courage (an Illinois not-for-profit, 501(c)3 charity organization) was created by Bartlett firefighters in 2017 to provide resources and inspiration for our neighbors within the community and fellow local first responders. We do not focus on one disease but rather any disease, ailment or significant tragedy that an individual or family may face throughout their lives. We understand that these struggles weigh heavy on the people that endure them. We want to be there to help encourage everyone to keep fighting, don’t lose hope and never give up.
