    South Elgin Man Identified As Victim In Fatal Shooting Involving Off-Duty Kane County Sheriff’s Deputy

    In a press release today, the Kane County Coroner identified the victim in Monday’s fatal shooting in Elgin involving an off-duty Kane County Sheriff’s deputy as 18-year-old Tyquaze Nicolas from South Elgin.

    Toxicology tests are in process. The preliminary cause of death is is consistent with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the press release.


    An off-duty Kane County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a fatal shooting Monday afternoon, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.

    According the state’s attorney, the shooting occured in Elgin just after 4:30pm near the intersection of Walnut Avenue and National Street.

    The state’s attorney announced in a press release that the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force is conducting the investigation.

    “Investigators want to ensure all facts of the case remain intact during this crucial investigation, and updates to the public will be provided when possible,” the release stated.

    The identity of the deceased has not yet been identified.
