The Naperville Park District offers a wide variety of recreation activities to keep visitors of all ages entertained throughout the summer season. Whether you’re looking to spend a day out on the water kayaking with friends and family, or want to wiggle your toes in the sand and cool off, look no further than Naperville Park District’s Paddleboat Quarry and Centennial Beach. These historic facilities, located near the heart of Downtown Naperville, have brought joy to Naperville residents and visitors alike for decades, and they are the perfect place to make lasting summer memories.

The Paddleboat Quarry is a great way to experience the feel of cruising on the water right in the middle of the suburbs. Located along the Naperville Riverwalk near Rotary Hill, visitors can rent a paddleboat, kayak, or paddleboard for 20-minute or 40-minute rides. Rental fees include brief instruction, use of watercraft, and a personal flotation device. Paddleboats seat up to four people, or you can enjoy a kayak ride with a friend or by yourself. Paddleboards and kayaks may be operated by individuals 13 years of age and older, however persons under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to sign a waiver. Grab a group of friends and explore every corner of the quarry this summer.

Centennial Beach, located within the limestone quarry-turned-public swimming spot, has served as a popular social gathering place since 1931. Welcoming thousands of visitors each summer, beach goers can wade peacefully in the zero-depth entry, swim to the depths of 15-feet, take a trip down the slide, and play bags or sand volleyball. Guests can also simply relax among the grass and trees while enjoying delicious food and refreshments from Centennial Grill or a bring-your-own picnic lunch. Whether you are looking for the perfect destination for your Naperville “daycation” or seeking to be a regular for the summer via seasonal membership, Centennial Beach needs to be a part of your summer plans. Daily passes and season memberships are available for purchase at napervilleparks.org/centennialbeach.
